Massage (Tui Na)
Prenatal Massage
Research shows prenatal massage therapy can help reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health.
Studies done in the past 10 years have shown that hormone levels associated with relaxation and stress are significantly altered when massage therapy is introduced to women's prenatal care. This leads to mood regulation and improved cardiovascular health.
Acupressure Massage
Acupressure is a traditional Chinese medicine bodywork technique based on the same ideas as acupuncture.
It involves placing physical pressure, by hand, elbow, or with the aid of various devices, on different pressure points on the surface of the body (which may be far distant from the symptom, related by what is called the meridian system) to bring about relief through greater balance and circulation of fluids (blood, lymph) and metabolic energies in the body (heat, qi). Acupressure helps in reducing pain, fatigue, muscle stiffness, stress, etc.
It is a unique technique that would be appropriate for the kids since it is a pain-free, natural treatment. Acupressure could help for kid's cough, diarrhea as well as stop vomiting and other symptoms.
Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy is one part of Acupuncture treatment, which is provided by cups (usually made of glass and plastic) to be placed on the treatment area.
The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen tight muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system (which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure). Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and even skin cellulite.
